Art After School, a guide for community-building through arts integration

About The Authors

Jane Brite has over 30 years of experience in the arts in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (including 20 years at the Milwaukee Art Museum) and other cities. In 1987 she helped establish Hands On, an after-school art program for neighborhood children at Walker's Point Center for the Arts, an alternative art center on Milwaukee's near southside. She has sat on the Boards of local and national art organizations. After seeing the impact that the arts can have on children, she has focused her attentions to organizations that focus on art education and programs for children.

Marlene Jaglinski, a former VISTA volunteer and Human Resource Manager, brings the business side of running an organization to the table. She worked with Brite at Walker's Point Center for the Arts as the Administrator and was responsible for writing grants, administrating grants, recruiting and supervising interns and all the business aspects of the organization.

Brite and Jaglinski mesh the arts with the business acumen necessary to successfully run an after-school art program.
