ACTIVE PARENTING Concepts
Travel to Bombay, India
ia

It’s a verrrrry long way from Bombay, India to Atlanta…but after 38 hours of travel by car, bus and plane, Rupal Patel arrived in Atlanta eager to participate in this summer’s Training of Trainers seminar. With her big smile and can-do attitude, she is ready to introduce the concept of parenting education to her country.

“I believe that parenting is the most important job of our life,” says the mother of a three-year-old daughter who has earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics and a certificate in Early Child Care from ORT India/Oxford University.

Rupal explains that she learned about Active Parenting from the web site, and quickly signed up for the online group program. “The online class was great. I learned a lot and thought other parents I knew could also benefit. At first I thought I would just train to become an online leader but then decided I also wanted to be able to train other leaders here in India to spread parenting education across the country. I talked to [Director of Training] Susan Reed and Dr. Popkin and made the decision to travel to Atlanta for trainer certification.”

Now that she has successfully completed the Training of Trainers seminar, says Reed, “Rupal is authorized to train others to become leaders of parent groups in India. Her abundant enthusiasm and energy will serve her well.”
