Active Parenting Today Online Groups need certified leaders

Active Parenting's Online Development Team spent the winter updating and improving our exciting Active Parenting Today Online Groups program, and held classes in February. The new format is a success and we'll be rolling out the online program in earnest this fall. Already we have heard from several corporations about offering Active Parenting Today Online to their employees.

But what's a parenting education program without a leader? We're committed to providing a closely monitored online parenting group experience, and as more and more parents sign up, we'll be needing more and more leaders. The $59.95 cost for the leaders-in-training course is guaranteed through June 30, 2001, but is expected to rise in the fall.

How to be certified as an online leader
To ensure a valuable learning experience for parents who enroll in the online course, we will require leaders to be certified before contracting with you to lead a class. The process is simple:

  • Complete an application.
The application is available online. Go to: http://www.activeparenting.com/LeaderInfo.htm
  • Participate in a Leaders-in-Training Online Group.
If your application is approved, we will schedule you into an online group. Through June 30, 2001, the cost of the course is $59.95.
  • Complete the content evaluation
quiz and a writing sample. Our goal is to provide parents signing up for the online course with a rich learning opportunity. We will require confirmation that our leaders have a thorough understanding of Active Parenting principles. Since certified online leaders will be representing Active Parenting through written communication, we will also require a sample of your writing. (You will be asked to answer, in writing, a question from an imaginary parent.) Note: Active Parenting Training of Trainers graduates are required to complete only the writing sample.
  • Lead a trial Active Parenting Today Online Group.
Upon successful completion of the evaluation, you'll be invited to lead your first APT Online Group. We will monitor your first class and provide feedback and pointers to help you. (You will be paid according to the normal payment policy for leading this group.)
  • Submit $15 certification fee, if approved.
At the end of the trial course, our Training Director will evaluate your performance and provide you with feedback. If requirements have been successfully met, you will be invited to submit a $15 certification fee to receive your Online Leader's Kit. You will then be certified to lead Active Parenting Today Online Groups!
