"Within this diverse group there were many opinions and the discussions were lively," says Hartman.

"I was hoping to learn something new. Being a 'straniero' (stranger), I found the whole thing a bit 'Americanized,' but much to my dismay I could, unfortunately, see myself in some of the videos. It has made me think of what I can do better. I got a lot of ideas both from the group, as well as from the video and group discussions." (Iceland)

When Hartman began working at the school last August one of her goals was to begin a parenting education program. In the fall she led an Active Parenting of Teens class for middle school parents. Later this year she is planning to use the "Take 10" video program to educate parents about how to talk to their kids about not smoking.
