Betsy Gard, Ph.D.
Gard, Ph.D., (1,2,3,4 Parents!) is a
child and family therapist at the Atlanta Area Family Psychiatry
Clinic. She also works as a psychologist at the Scottish Rite
Childrens Medical Clinic and at Ridgeview Hospital, both
in Atlanta. When she is not counseling families, she is teaching
counseling to students at Emory University. Dr. Gard received
her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Washington University in
St. Louis, Missouri. She has three children: a 26-year-old stepdaughter,
a 13-year-old daughter, and a 6-year-old son whom she recently
adopted from Russia.
Marilyn Montgomery, Ph.D.
Marilyn Montgomery, Ph.D., (1,2,3,4 Parents!)
is the director and a counselor at the Wellspring Center for
Family Development in Lubbock, Texas. She is also a professor
of Counselor and Early Childhood Education at Texas Tech University.
Dr. Montgomery heads several community organizations and leads
Active Parenting classes. She received her Ph.D. in Human Development
and Family Studies at Texas Tech. Her children are ages 16, 13,

H. Popkin, Ph.D., is one of the nations foremost experts
on parent education. A former child and family therapist, Dr.
Popkin has written more than twenty books, including seven best-selling
video-based discussion programs. Dr. Popkins experience
as an expert in the field of parent education includes serving
on the panel Parenting as Prevention for the US Government
Office of Substance Abuse Prevention. Dr. Popkin received his
Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Georgia State University.
