"The Single Parent Blues" by Barbara-Lynn
Taylor and Kim Ratz
There are many moms and
dads who raise their kids alone.
They have to play all the roles to get things done at home.
It isn't always what the single parent had in mind
sometimes things happen over the course of time.
Chorus:
An' that's why I'm singin' 'bout the single parent blues.
Sometimes it's a chosen
path, one you want to make.
Sometimes it happens to you through no choice or mistake.
But of one thing, there's definitely no doubt -
that being a single parent is one heckuva workout.
(Chorus)
But bein' a single parent
isn't always bad.
Sometimes things are better than what you used to have.
It boils down to "attitude"--the choices that you make
That enable you to forge ahead, even learn from the mistakes.
(Chorus)
So here's to the moms
and dads who raise their kids alone
Who play all the roles to get things done at home.
It isn't always what the single parent had in mind
But with the right attitudes they can take it all in stride.
(Chorus)
An' you know, when you
get those single parent blues,
Just sing a tune, and sing those blues right out of the room!
