About the authors of Teens in Action

Dr. Michael Popkin, Ph.D. Michael H. Popkin, Ph.D., is one of the nation’s foremost experts on parent education. A former child and family therapist, Dr. Popkin has written more than twenty books, including seven best-selling video-based discussion programs. Dr. Popkin’s experience as an expert in the field of parent education includes serving on the panel “Parenting as Prevention” for the US Government Office of Substance Abuse Prevention. Dr. Popkin received his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Georgia State University.
  Peggy Hendrickson, MA, MSW, ACSW
Margaret J. "Peggy" Hendrickson is an educator and social worker with 25 years of experience in providing prevention services. Her credentials include a BA in English and psychology from the University of Michigan, and MA in education from Central Michigan University, and an MSW from Michigan State University. Ms. Hendrickson has designed, implemented, and evaluated a number oaf successful prevention and early intervention programs, including the Families in Action curriculum. She currently divides her time between northern Michigan and southern Arizona, working as a consultant and grant writer for health and human service organizations.
