Marilyn Black, L.H.D.
Marilyn
Black, L.H.D. (Active
Teaching) has more than 40 years of classroom experience
and is a recipient of the National Teacher of the Year Award.
In an effort to effect positive change in her community and school
system, she has served five terms as Selectman for the town of
Hanover, New Hampshire. She received her B.S. and M.S. in recreation
education from Pennsylvania State University and her L.H.D.
from Dartmouth College.
Susan Boyan, M.Ed.
Susan
Boyan, M.Ed., (Cooperative
Parenting and Divorce) is a Licensed Marriage and Family
Therapist. She has worked with children and families since 1971
and has been in private practice since 1984. Mrs. Boyan is a
clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and
Family Therapy. She is also a member and research chair for the
Georgia Play Therapy Association. Some of her other organizations
include: Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, Association
of Fathers and Children, Step Family Association, Association
of Christian Counselors, Southeast Psychomotor Society and the
National Association for Children of Alcoholics. She consults
extensively and presents numerous professional presentations
to national, state and local audiences. Mrs. Boyan does expert
witness testimony and has written articles on Parental Alienation.
She is a former special education teacher and rehabilitation
counselor. Mrs. Boyan divorced in 1979. In 1981 she married and
has two daughters. She resides in Atlanta, Georgia, with her
family.

Einstein, M.A., M.F.T.
Elizabeth Einstein (Active
Parenting for Stepfamilies) is one of Americas
leading educators in the field of stepfamily living. A Marriage
& Family Therapist in Ithaca, NY, author and lecturer, shes
also a creative teacher, workshop trainer, and stepfamily consultant.
For the past 20 years, shes presented workshops through
social work schools at leading universities and throughout the
military community through its family advocacy programs. For

Betsy
Gard, Ph.D.
Betsy
Gard, Ph.D., (1,2,3,4
Parents!) is a child and family therapist at the Atlanta
Area Family Psychiatry Clinic. She also works as a psychologist
at the Scottish Rite Childrens Medical Clinic and at Ridgeview
Hospital, both in Atlanta. When she is not counseling families,
she is teaching counseling to students at Emory University. Dr.
Gard received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Washington
University in St. Louis, Missouri. She has three children: a
26-year-old stepdaughter, a 13-year-old daughter, and a
6-year-old son whom she recently adopted from Russia.
Susan Greathead,
M.Ed.
Susan
Greathead, M.Ed., (Free
the Horses) is a former teacher of grades kindergarten through
high school, and served as director of product development for
Active Parenting Publishers. She received her Bachelors
in Education from Cornell University and her Masters in
Education from Syracuse University. Ms. Greathead joined Active
Parenting in 1984. As director of product development, she supervised
the writing, development and production of many of the companys
products. She also coordinated the training of all leaders and
trainers. Ms. Greathead is married to a native New Zealande r and has
two children.
Mary Joe Hannaford,
S. Ed.
Mary Joe Hannaford, S. Ed., (Windows)
was a nationally known counselor educator and supervisor. She
worked for many years in loss education. This dynamic, inspirational
speaker and workshop leader was the coordinator of guidance and
counseling in the Gwinnett County, Georgia, Schools and held
a Specialist degree in counseling with special work in business
administration, English, psychology and art. Ms. Hannaford conducted
workshops on loss and was a consultant and trainer for school
systems and businesses. She also taught counseling in the Graduate
School of Education at Georgia State University. She received
the American School Counselor Second Award in Professional Writing
and the American School Counseling Association Award in Counseling
Supervision. She wrote the books Counselors Under Construction
and The Joy of Sorrow. Ms. Hannaford died in 1991.
Jane M. Healy, Ph.D.
Jane
M. Healy, Ph.D., (Parents
on Board) is currently a reading and learning specialist
and has been a teacher, lecturer, college professor and elementary
administrator. She is recognized worldwide for her books, lectures
and consulting on the applications of brain research to practical
classroom and parenting situations. She has received national
media coverage for her ideas about the impact of television on
childrens brain development. Dr. Healy received her Ph.D.
in Educational Psychology from Case Western Reserve University.

Leopold, Ph.D.
Virgil Leopold, Ph.D., (Active
Teaching) is an elementary school principal in Monroe, Wisconsin.
A former Principal of the Year for the state of Wisconsin, he
has more than 30 years of experience in education. He is active
in state and national education organizations, including the
National Association of Elementary School Principals. He received
his Ph.D. in education administration from the University
of Wisconsin.
Marilyn Montgomery,

Marilyn Montgomery, Ph.D., (1,2,3,4
Parents!) is the director and a counselor at the Wellspring
Center for Family Development in Lubbock, Texas. She is also
a professor of Counselor and Early Childhood Education at Texas
Tech University. Dr. Montgomery heads several community organizations
and leads Active Parenting classes. She received her Ph.D. in
Human Development and Family Studies at Texas Tech. Her children
are ages 16, 13, and 10.
Beverly J. OBryant,
M.A.
Beverly J. OBryant, M.A., (Active
Teaching) is a nationally certified school counselor in Washington,
DC. She has more than 25 years of experience in the education
field. She is a past president of the American Counseling Association,
an accomplished presenter and has appeared on CBS Morning
Show and other national television programs. Active in
professional and community organizations, she has received numerous
honors and awards. She received her M.A. in counseling from the
University of Maryland.
Michael H. Popkin,
Ph.D.
Michael
H. Popkin, Ph.D., is one of the nations foremost experts
on parent education. A former child and family therapist, Dr.
Popkin has written more than twenty books, including seven best-selling
video-based discussion programs. Dr. Popkins experience
as an expert in the field of parent education includes serving
on the panel Parenting as Prevention for the US Government
Office of Substance Abuse Prevention. Dr. Popkin received his
Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Georgia State University.

Barbara Lynn Taylor, M.Ed., (Successful
Parenting) has taught elementary school and served as a school
counselor. Along with creating the Successful Parenting series,
she hosted a weekly radio talk show called Make Time for
Children, presents workshops, and has appeared on television
discussing school, children, families and parenting skills. She
is married and the mother of two boys.

Parenting and Divorce) is a Licensed Professional Counselor.
She has worked with children and families since 1979. Respected
in her field, she has conducted seminars on the national, state,
and local levels. She has experience developing programs that
meet the specific needs of professionals working with children
and their families. Mrs. Termini has also published material
in professional journals focusing on the therapeutic needs of
children. She is a former officer for the San Antonio Association
for Marriage and Family Therapy and coordinator for special education
services. She has been awarded Clinical Membership in the American
Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Among her many professional
activities, Mrs. Termini is a consultant for a family court in
Pennsylvania and maintains a private practice. She resides in
Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, with her husband and two daughters.

Bettie B. Youngs, Ph.D., Ed.D., (Parents
on Board) a former Teacher of the Year, is an internationally
known educational consultant and author of more than a dozen
books on raising happy, healthy and successful young people.
Dr. Youngs is a noted expert on the effects of stress and self-esteem
on childrens health and achievement. She received her Ph.D.
in Counseling and Teacher Education at Walden University and
her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Administration at Drake
