Always Remaining

Looking back
I see clouds hanging low
And breathe a sigh
That they have drifted on.
Leaving sadness
standing there alone
In hesitation
Always remaining.

Looking out
I see hope rising
Like the dawning of the sun
Renewing warmth
of morning light
That shines through
Open windows
Always beginning.
-Mary Joe Hannaford
