Crossroads of Parenting & Divorce

Crossroads of Parenting & Divorce Program Kit with Online Video Library

A 4- to 6-hour seminar designed to prevent divorce abuse—a specific type of emotional abuse that divorcing parents cause when, in their anger and bitterness, they lose sight of their child’s needs.

Crossroads of Parenting & Divorce is a five-step seminar designed to prevent divorce abuse—a specific type of emotional abuse that divorcing parents cause when, in their anger and bitterness, they lose sight of their child’s needs.

This video-based seminar will help parents become aware of how their actions may inadvertently harm their children, show how to establish positive post-divorce co-parenting relationships, and provide them with the skills they need to stay child-focused while minimizing poor choices amidst conflict and loss.

Crossroads of Parenting & Divorce is derived from the evidence-based Cooperative Parenting and Divorce program and shares scenes from the same video.

5 steps to prevent divorce abuse

In just one session (4-6 hours), parents will learn how to implement the 5 prevention steps:

  • Step 1: Keep your child out of the middle.
  • Step 2: Allow your child to love both parents.
  • Step 3: Work on your own recovery.
  • Step 4: Develop new communication skills.
  • Step 5: Create a positive new relationship as co-parents.

How the seminar works:

This seminar combines video, activities, skill development and discussion. It is designed for providers to offer court systems a new and more effective form of divorce seminar.

Like most divorce seminars, Crossroads is designed to last 4 hours. Optional activities extend the program to 6 hours if needed. The easy-to-read Parent’s Guide (64 pp.) provides vital information and gives examples and exercises to support what they have learned. (The Parent’s Guide also stands alone and is useful even for parents who don’t take the mandated divorce seminar.)

Certificates of completion are available to be ordered for all attendees.

Testimonials

“It's great that there is finally a proactive book for parents to learn how to avoid harming their children from their divorce behaviors!”

Siri Gotlieb, Court Administrator

“Crossroads is clearly a wake-up call for divorcing parents who may be unknowingly harming their children. This guide does not beat around the bush. In a direct yet sensitive manner, Crossroads provides parents with the skills and insight to prevent divorce abuse. It is about time we had a divorcing seminar that focuses on prevention!”

Nora Kalb Bushfield, Esquire
Collaborative Law Center, Atlanta, Georgia

“As a parent and a survivor of a high-conflict divorce, I found the information in Crossroads to be very helpful. Despite my best intentions, I had been engaging in behavior that hurt those who I love the most: my children. Crossroads points out the traps that well-meaning parents can fall into and gives you practical advice on how to make changes that will leave you and your children happier. Your children are worth the effort of reading and heeding this book.”

Tim T.
Parent

“I was really surprised at how many ways I had contributed to putting my children in the middle! Crossroads gave me some important insight into the impact of my own behaviors on my children. Parenting is really difficult especially when you are distracted by your own pain. Thankfully Crossroads has helped me to eliminate most of these behaviors and my children are the beneficiaries!”
