Train future leaders of classes for stepfamilies
Thousands of new stepfamilies are formed every year, each with unique challenges. This means an ever-increasing need for stepfamily education leaders—and trainers like you to teach them.

Track #3 will be led by Steven Hargrave. Steven has been using the Active Parenting for Stepfamilies program since its introduction. Also participating in Track #3 is Dr. Michael Popkin, co-author of the program and founder of Active Parenting Publishers.

At the Active Parenting for Stepfamilies Trainers track you will . . .
  • receive training and authorization to conduct your own Leader Training Workshops (LTWs)—and earn extra income
  • learn how to implement and publicize your LTWs
  • get advice from the authors of the program about what your LTW participants will need to know
  • enhance your presentation skills by working in small groups
  • network with fellow educators who understand the challenges you face every day
  • learn how to teach group facilitation skills that are important in any leadership position (including dealing with difficult attendees)
  • learn the absolutes required for a successful LTW, along with ways to adapt the course material for your particular audience
  • become re-energized in this uplifting and motivational atmosphere
After successfully completing the Active Parenting for Stepfamilies Trainers track,
you will . . .
  • be able to conduct Active Parenting for Stepfamilies Leader Training Workshops
  • be able to charge fees for your workshops
  • be authorized to provide certification to new leaders
  • receive 2 CEUs from NBCC or 20 contact hours
  • receive the program training tape of your choice
  • receive a DVD of your mini-presentation for review
To participate in the Active Parenting for Stepfamilies track, you must meet the following requirements:
  1. You must have attended a Leader Training Workshop. To participate in this track fo the TOT, you must complete either an Active Parenting or an Active Parenting for Stepfamilies LTW. An Active Parenting LTW will be held one day prior to the TOT. For other dates and locations, check out our Leader Training Workshop web page.
  2. You must be familiar with the program content prior to the Training of Trainers. It is best if you have led one or more parent groups, but we make exceptions if you agree to lead a parent group after you attend the Training of Trainers to complete your certification.
